Legal Advocacy

We assist victims in reporting cases to DOVVSU (Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit). We provide legal guidance to ensure perpetrators are held accountable under Ghanaian law.

🧠

Trauma Counseling

Abuse leaves emotional scars. We offer confidential psychological counseling for women and children to help them process trauma and rebuild their self-esteem.

🏠

Emergency Safety

If you are in immediate danger, we help coordinate temporary relocation to safe houses and provide basic needs (food, clothing) during the transition.

Legal Framework

Know Your Rights

Knowledge is your first line of defense. Under the Domestic Violence Act 732 (2007) of Ghana, abuse is not a "family matter"β€”it is a criminal offense and a violation of human rights.

  • Physical abuse (beating, slapping, assault) is a punishable crime.
  • Emotional & psychological abuse is recognized by law.
  • Economic abuse (denying money or right to work) is illegal.
  • Forced marriage and sexual abuse are strictly prohibited.

Immediate Action Plan

Your Safety Priority

If you cannot leave immediately, take these discreet steps to prepare yourself for a safe exit.

01

Document Evidence

Take photos of injuries immediately. Save threatening texts or voice notes. Send them to a secret email or a trusted friend immediately. Do not keep them on your phone.

02

Pack an "Escape Bag"

Hide a bag with essentials: ID cards, birth certificates, cash, medication, and a change of clothes. Leave it with a trusted neighbor or hide it outside the house.

03

Memorize Contacts

If your phone is seized or broken, you must know who to call. Memorize the DOVVSU Hotline and a family member's number by heart.
